Art Exhibition - Beautiful Bangladesh

Galleri Kaya in Uttara, Dhaka will host a solo art exhibition, titled “Beautiful Bangladesh”, featuring the works of painter Shohag Parvez. The exhibition will be inaugurated on June 15, and will continue till June 26.

Rupali Chowdhury, managing director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd, will inaugurate the exhibition. Veteran artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and architect Rabiul Hussain will grace the inaugural programme.

When he began, Shohag’s paintings highlighted his interest in nature — representing the affluent abundance of colours, views, light, shade and serenity. The USP of these paintings is the flowing quality achieved through watercolours, in non-abstract form. His presentation is smooth, natural and dynamic. As subjects, he prefers seasonal changes, the hilly landscape of Chittagong, traditional lifestyle of indigenous communities, vivid representations of the powers of storm, mustard and green paddy fields in autumn etc.

Shohag Parvez is simultaneously a watercolourist and oil painter. His water colours are superb in terms of his personal techniques and in creating the effects of water. The artist’s technique is particularly based on flat wash and thin colour. He seeks to depict the sparkle and simplicity of nature.

His paintings are fresh, nascent and provide the spectators a sense of pleasure. His drawings and sketches are lively and have the right kind of restraint. He knows where to stop.
