  • According to the national size estimation 2015-2016, 102,260 female sex workers are involved with the sex industry of Bangladesh, of which 3,856 are from the brothel setting. Since 2015 there is no any program for the brothel based female sex workers. In this circumstance, with the support of UNFPA, Light House conducted a situational assessment in 11 brothels in Bangladesh and in light of that launched an integrated SRH and HIV prevention services in Mymensingh and Tangail brothel. Under UBRAF, UNICEF and UNFPA jointly supported Light House to implement the program in these two brothels which will end on April 2019. Besides, in 2019, UNFPA has expanded the integrated SRH and HIV prevention services to 9 brothels through a sex worker`s community led program.
  • The Project Manager shall ensure that the project is in line with the approved project proposal and the budget. Oversee the expense management, review project work plan and time line, conduct monthly/quarterly staff meeting, review project performance and supervise project staff. Overall, h/she will ensure full compliance of UNFPA, UNICEF and Light House policies and guidelines for this project and will report to the Deputy Chief Executive/program headof Light House.
  • Besides the Manager also shall coordinate with the community-based organizations based in 11 brothels in Bangladesh and dedicate his/her maximum effort to establish the sustainable model for SRH programming. The Manager shall play also the role to establish professional relationships where appropriate and in maintaining/conducting local level coordination and advocacy effort.
  • The Manager shall exercise extensive independent judgment in planning and carrying out tasks, developing consensus among team, UNFPA, UNHCR and local GO/NGO/private stakeholders, representing the Light House in critical technical and policy fora, resolving problems and conflicts, and in meeting deadlines.
  • Develop strategies and tools for the effective program implementation and ensure those are applied in program context
  • Ensure the program intervention assessment/study and help effective programming in Light House context.
  • Develop and monitor work plans. Ensure appropriate level s of programmatic assistance to project team
  • Provide technical assistance to review/ write the programmatic component of proposal, protocols, papers, reports to ensure and appropriateness.
  • Lead resource development efforts for program implementation: Identify opportunities, analysis; build the common understanding with in the program context.
  • Conduct close-out activities for the project.
  • Strengthen the network among Light House and other local and international agencies.
  • Identifying and coordinating technical needs, and providing expertise in SRH
